Application: Oil Mist Removal

Summary: Mac Fasteners is a leading manufacturer of aerospace fasteners, which services the entire aerospace and defense industries. With over 80 employees and multiple facilities, they manufacture more than 200 million fasteners a year. Their primary facility contains a 53k square foot manufacturing operation, which primarily consists of steadily running cold-header machines. As a result, the air in the shop is heavy with oil mist particulate.
Challenge: The facility has multiple large Smog-Hog electrostatic oil mist collectors, but they are insuffient to handle the large volume of evaporated coolant. When trying to decide how to handle the problem, cost was a big factor. Because of their size and expense, adding additional Smog-Hog units was out of the question.
Solution: Blue Ox provided 8 OX3500C units with oil collection assemblies. Unlike the Smog-Hog, the OX units were small enough they could be placed directly over the rows of machines, closer to the source of the mist. Because these units are more cost effective, we provided more units, resulting in more air changes per hour and better results.
