Welding & Plasma Smoke Removal
Blue Ox OX3000 and OX3200 air filtration systems were installed at AIS Construction Equipment to help control welding and plasma fumes and smoke.
OX3000 and OX3200 air cleaners provide a T-Style airflow pattern to pull air in through inlets on both ends and exhaust clean, filtered air through a grill/ fan in the center.
Units in the OX3000 series come equipped with a dual set of micro-glass fiber disposable filters to provide more filter area and allow systems to operate with considerably less static pressure. The lower airflow-to-filter ratio provides higher efficiency and longer filter life.
The OX3200 unit was developed primarily for larger installations where there is a heavy contamination load and a lot of area to be cleaned. These multi-unit setups have higher filter cloth-to-air ratios, resulting in a significant savings in maintenance and less overall units required. Our 1x2 Units have twice the filter surface area of a single unit, resulting in over 3x the filter life.

Summary: AIS is a heavy equipment dealership for John Deere and Komatsu equipment. We have anywhere from 3-6 guys working in this department fabricating attachments for equipment or modifying/repairing equipment for customers.
Challenge: The primary problem was during the plasma cutting operation the shop would get really hazy and would stay that way for up to an hour after cutting. They were also having issues with smoke filling the shop during the welding process.
Solution: We installed one OX3000 unit and two OX3200 - 1x2 units. Their problems with welding smoke during the welding process have been eliminated! The haze from the plasma cutting has also been greatly improved, usually clearing up within five minutes of cutting.
